My Favorite Workouts

My preferred workout setting is at home, where I have the freedom to decide what and when my workout will be. I like having the flexibility and, if I’m being honest, a lot of my daily activities revolve around when I need to eat. My body requires a lot of fuel:) So naturally, two of my top favorite workouts are effective videos I can do in the comfort of my living room, day or night, hot or cold, rain or shine.
Shelly Dose Workout Channel on Youtube
Shelly Dose was recommended to me by a friend not too long ago, and I love her workouts! She is upbeat, fast-paced and her routines work your whole body. Almost all her videos have cardio and strength incorporated one way or another, and I always am sweating bullets at the end. One thing Shelly Dose really does for me and is reminds me to push myself. For me personally, I think her kind of exercises are the ones most effective on my body for what I want to achieve. The beat of the music in the background always helps me keep my momentum and prevents me from settling into a comfortable pace. There’s plenty of workouts to choose from too. Although I would argue that they all incorporate cardio, she has a variety of videos, including strength, upper body, lower body, abs and core, HIIT, Tabata, cardio kickboxing, cardio sculpt and barefoot workouts. I’ve been incorporating her workouts into my routine since December 2016 and haven’t had to repeat one yet!
Fitness Blender Workouts
I love everything Fitness Blender stands for. They advocate for a 50/50 lifestyle of clean, whole foods and 3-5 days of activity. They have hundreds of free workout videos varying in length, difficulty and focus. On their website you can even search based on these elements, which is helpful if you know what you’re looking for. The videos include timer and a progress bar that allows you to see how much time you have left in both the exercise and the workout itself. I generally use Fitness Blender when I don’t feel motivated enough to do an intense workout like Shelly Dose. Because of this I gravitate toward their strength and pilates videos. I also like taking advantage of their short 10-15 minute workouts when I feel unmotivated, but want to get my 30 minutes in. Something is better than nothing at all, and for some reason three 10 minute videos just seems like difficult than one 30 minute video.
Hiking Hiking is exercise that doesn’t feel like exercise to me. I enjoy being out in nature and appreciating its beauty while being active. When I lived in La Crosse, I was hiking the bluffs at least twice a week one summer because it was such a rewarding way to exercise. When I travel, a hike is always on my list—what better way to experience a new area than to explore the natural landscapes and marvel at its breathtaking views?
