Book Nerd Rules: Respect the Book
1. OMG DO NOT DOG-EAR THE PAGES!!!
That is a sacred object. Respect it. Do NOT ruin that masterpiece by putting a crease into a perfectly good page. Get yourself a book mark, or a post it, or a folded piece of paper. I’m begging you. While we’re on the topic of respect, do NOT use a book as a coaster (*cough, cough* Dad). It’s not a coaster. You’re going to get a water ring all over the cover.
2. Read the book before your watch the movie.
Seriously, come on. The book is ALWAYS better and you don’t get the same experience out of reading a book when you think you know what’s going to happen. You can never capture the entire essence of a book in a movie. Something has to be left out. Also, you are missing such an integral part of the story, which is the voice and thoughts of the character. This is SO IMPORTANT to the book-reading experience! And usually it’s a big reason why certain events even happen.
3. Do NOT read ahead.
That’s cheating. Stop it. Don’t ruin if for yourself. Enjoy the journey:)
4. Never feel bad about spending money on books.
They’re good for your mind:)
